"We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn” – Peter Drucker

What is ABA / VB ?

Many parents regularly question if there is a difference between ABA and ABA / VB teaching. The teaching that we do is based on the principles of ABA. There may be many misinformed people who imply that ABA / VB is something separate from the science of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

Verbal Behaviour or VB is simply the application of these scientific principles to language.  "Verbal Behaviour" is a language classification system developed by B. F. Skinner.  When behaviour analyst use Skinner's "Verbal Behaviour" classifications to teach language, and do so by using teaching procedures (e.g., discrete trial, prompting, fading, shaping, chaining), and these are based on the principles of ABA. Our behaviour consultant can refer to Skinner's Verbal Behaviour classification, part of as an ABA teaching strategies.

There are many teaching procedures and practices that have evolved from the science of ABA that have been shown to be effective with children with developmental disabilities, predominantly autism spectrum disorders.
